Gulya is a certified postpartum doula and advanced newborn care specialist based in Los Angeles, with more than 45,000 hours of hands-on newborn care, including twins, preemies, and NICU graduates. She travels to Vancouver for in-home placements and works by phone or video the rest of the time. Vancouver and Los Angeles are both on Pacific Time, so a check-in does not mean a late-night call on either side.
In-home care in Vancouver is a planned trip, not a same-day local visit. Gulya stays with your family for the placement: nights, days, or both, depending on what you book. Typical work in the house is feeding, diapering, bathing, soothing, tracking intake, and showing both parents how to do it themselves. Before she leaves, she writes down the plan and checks it against what your baby's doctor has already told you.
If the dates for a trip are full, support does not have to wait. Phone and video calls cover feeding, gas and colic, reflux routines your doctor has already set, and the first questions after a birth, C-section, induction, adoption, or surrogacy. Mommy & Me — Month 1, Month 2, and Month 3 — is the same written material and the same four calls a month from anywhere in Vancouver. No travel required for that.
A lot of Vancouver families write because there are two babies, or because one baby is coming home smaller than expected. Gulya works as a postpartum doula for twins and as a preemie care specialist: tandem feeding, two different sleep patterns, apnea monitors, reflux, and the first weeks after the NICU. She is not a doctor and does not change medications. She follows the discharge plan you already have.
Infant sleep training in Vancouver is available in person during a placement and online afterward. Sleep work starts once a baby is past four months, and only with the doctor's approval. Cry-it-out is not the default.
