Portland is a travel city for Gulya, not a second home. That is useful to know before you compare her with a doula who lives in the Alberta or Sellwood neighborhood and can stop by tomorrow. She comes from Los Angeles for a block of in-home newborn care, then stays available by phone and video. The work itself is the same as in Los Angeles: hands-on care for a newborn, twins, a preemie, or a NICU graduate, plus teaching the parents so the house still functions when she leaves.
During a Portland placement she handles feeding, diapering, bathing, and settling, including overnights if that is what you booked. Feedings get logged. Cluster feeding, growth spurts, gas, and colic are talked through in plain language. A 3–5 day potty-training plan exists for later, if you want it; it is not part of the newborn stay. She will not hand you a shopping list of brands. She tells you what parents tend to use, you choose, and anything medical goes back to your pediatrician.
Portland-area families sometimes need her at the house and sometimes only need a plan. Both are available. If you are in Beaverton, Lake Oswego, or across the river in Vancouver, Washington, say so in the first message — travel time inside the metro is part of fitting a placement, and Vancouver, Washington is not the Vancouver, BC page.
If you had twins, the first month is a logistics problem as much as a baby problem. Gulya's postpartum doula work for twins covers tandem or separate feeds, two different temperaments, and protecting your recovery after a twin birth while someone competent is awake at night. Preemie care sits inside the same visit when the babies came early: smaller volumes, closer weight checks, extra patience with feeding fatigue. She does not override the NICU discharge instructions.
Infant sleep training for twins can wait until both babies are past four months and your doctor agrees. Until then, the goal is a livable rhythm, not a method with a name.
